Sogetsu ikebana is a modern school of Japanese flower arranging that emphasizes composition, negative space, and asymmetry. Rachel has studied under her teacher Yoshi for nearly thirty years. The practice shaped how she sees: odd numbers, tension between elements, space as an active presence rather than emptiness, and the beauty of impermanence. These principles run through both her botanical abstractions and figurative work.
